Shelagh MacFarlane
Psychologist
BMus, BSc, MSc Psychology

My private practice commenced in 2005 working with individuals, couples and families with a variety of issues and challenges that are impacting fulfilment, meaningful connections and success.

I received training in Canada, United States, and the United Kingdom. My consultations have spanned internationally with personal involvement in humanitarian projects in Nepal, South Africa, Kenya, Uganda, and Afghanistan.

Aside from my membership of the International Practitioners in Holistic Medicine (IPHM), that also includes being a member of the British Columbia Psychological Association (BCPA).

During my time in private practice, I have been profoundly honoured to support, inspire, encourage, and guide my clients to not only heal and also to grow and thrive through their journeys in life.

As a dedicated psychologist, I draw on my own life challenges to emphatize and support clients navigating pain. I understand firsthand the courage it takes to meet, heal and integrate difficulties, and I am here to guide you on your journey.

My approach is integrative. Incorporating ACT modalities, compassionate inquiry, Gestalt techniques, inner child work, visualization, mindfulness, and somatic healing, I personally tailor to the needs of each individual client by combining elements drawn from different schools of psychological theory and researched based therapy. This I believe it leads to a flexible and inclusive approach to caring and supporting my clients’ healing.
